Sources read and named

Every entry on the four rooms rests on sources the desk has read. Each entry names them at the foot of the page: fishery notices and sport fishing regulations, tide and current tables, marine weather, harbour and marina documents, published charter and lodge practice, and the words of anglers who work these waters. Where a figure comes from a table or a notice, the entry says which one.

The date an entry was checked

Each entry carries the date it was last checked. Seasons shift, regulations are amended and tables are reissued, so an entry older than the current season is read as a record of that season. When a change is confirmed, the entry is written again and the date moves.

Photographs

Every photograph on this site is a generated image, made for the plate it illustrates. Captions name them as plates, with the room and the date of the entry they belong to, so a reader can tell an illustration from a document.

Corrections

A correction that holds is applied to the entry, and the date it was last checked changes with it. The correction belongs to the entry, not to a comment thread: the record a reader sees is the entry itself.

What an entry promises

An entry gives the reader the state of the water, the fish and the rules as the sources describe them. It gives no promise about a catch, no price for a charter, and no introduction to a supplier.
